Expert Publishing Guidance and Promotional Strategies.
As a literary agent, I provide invaluable publishing advice, born of years of being part of the acquisition process. I have toured with Booker Prize winners, sports people, actors, debut authors, commercial authors, politicians, and celebrities.
For over 20 years I attended international buying meetings where books were chosen to publish from around the world, which honed my ability to spot a new literary talent or a gap in the market. I also sat in cover design meetings so I have a good working knowledge of which covers will stand out on a crowded shelf. I have led marketing and publicity teams and campaigns for over 20 years so am well-versed in what sells books and gets an author noticed. With thousands of books being published each month in Australia, an author needs a point of difference, and publicity and marketing are the most effective ways of achieving this.

What does a literary agent do?
Literary agents are the conduit between publishers and authors. They can negotiate your publishing deal, help with editorial input, protect your legal interests, sell your book in different formats, and provide a much-needed sounding board. They receive a percentage of your income from royalties, advances and fees.

Literary Submissions
I am only accepting Australian fiction and non-fiction works. No children’s books, animated books, plays, poetry, fantasy/SF, or textbooks. Please provide a two-page synopsis of your work including your biography and 50 pages from your manuscript. I will not be able to reply to or provide feedback on submissions that aren’t successful. Please expect a two-month turnaround period and if you haven’t heard back, assume that your submission wasn’t what we were looking for. Things to include in the synopsis are:
- The title
- Your contact details
- The genre you’re writing in
- Your competitors in the market
- What makes your book unique
- One line elevator pitch
